Oster 5838 ExpressBake Breadmaker, White Reviews

My Oster bread maker has produced a continuous supply of bread since August 1999. (I am writing this in October 2010!) In 2003, I found a used back-up machine that I purchased for when this one dies . . . but the back-up machine is still sitting in a box in the basement. br /br /We bake all our bread, make pizza dough, dough for cinnamon rolls, etc. and this machine comes through like a trooper. Bravo to the manufacturer! It's nice to find something that is high in quality for a very reasonable price.

Outstanding Breadmaker - gkreisler - I only have one problem. Seems as though we make a loaf of bread every 2 days. Thanks Amazon for another great product. If I am going to make a purchase, I always check Amazon first. Best Price, and best merchandise. Gary Pam Disappointing - mockmm - We had a great bread machine by Regal. Used it for years and years. No problems whatsoever! And then the bread pan cracked. We couldn't find a replacement so I did some research to find a new one. The Oster 5838 was available for a good price. I read pro and con reviews. The main problem mentioned in the cons were that the loaf would fall. But there were also tips on what to do to correct for fallen loaves. We figured we could adjust the recipe as the tips suggested and get the loaf to come out. So we bought it. br /br /We must have baked 20 loaves in that machine. Of that 20 only 2 came out without falling. All the loaves were edible, but they weren't very attractive and the slices were shaped funny. We tried all the tips. The one time the loaf came out great! We tried the same thing the next time and the loaf fell. It was very disappointing. Several tries later, we got another good loaf. We repeated the process that had just proved to be successful and guess what! It fell again. More disappointment. We tried all the tips. None of them worked or if they did, they weren't repeatable. So the machine went back to the store. (Thank you Kohls!)br /br /We have since purchased a bread machine marketed by Food Network. Since it was on sale, we actually paid a little less for it than the Oster. The structure is very similar to the Regal we had, only the bread pan is bigger. So far, we have made about six loaves. All six have been perfect! We are delighted to have our bread machine back!!!
